We arrive and receive a welcome cocktail followed by a full-on happy hour. The Mozart/Strauss Orchestra plays for our enjoyment and the Vienna Ballet performs before dinner (I hope they do numbers from the Nutcracker!). A four-course dinner is served before the 2018 debutantes - in their white satin dresses - paraded out for a dance. Then we get to dance! At midnight, we will head out to the balcony and watch fireworks over the city. We get a midnight snack and then will dance the night away to a 80s/90s/00s band. OMG!
In prep, I bought a long forest green velvet gown (side slit and keyhole back)...but what to wear with? Choices are festive silver sparkle or elegant black velvet.
I'm leaning a little toward the black velvet - it will be cold and showery, possibly snowy, and I'm not so keen as to wear strappy sandals in that weather. I have six days to decide.
